The Club

The South Australian Fresh Water Anglers Association (SAFWAA) is a family-oriented angling club. People of all ages and abilities may join and pursue their choice of legal fishing method. The club also holds regular saltwater fishing events and outings designed to open new avenues of the sport to members, whether it be fly fishing tuition or trips to South Australia’s best fishing locations. 

The club has access to numerous private dams in the north and south of Adelaide, all of which are available to members upon joining. Cod, catfish, silver perch and callop are available and protected to ensure members can continue to enjoy them. Brown and rainbow trout may be available and trophy-sized redfin are on offer.

SAFWAA continues to promote all aspects of recreational angling and is dedicated to increasing public access to South Australia’s freshwater venues. The club has been involved in lobbying for increased access to freshwater venues and continues to work towards the enhancement of recreational angling in the state. 

Join The Club

All are welcome to attend monthly meetings before joining.

Meetings are held at 7.00 pm on the first Tuesday of each month, except January, at the Thebarton Community Centre (room 3) on the corner of South Road and Ashwin Parade Torrensville.

Meetings consist of club fishing reports and provide useful information for all regarding methods and techniques to catch fish. With a large membership base, there is a wealth of information on all things fishing and discounted tackle is occasionally available.

New members will need to attend one of the new member intake meetings (as listed above) to collect their membership pack and instructions on how to access the dams. Our emphasis is on the enjoyment factor for all, whatever that entails. For details of membership including fees, follow the membership link.
